Q. How long do I have to make a claim?

A. A claim must be made within 3 years of the wrongful surgery or the date that you know or suspected that you have suffered as a result of the procedure.If a relative has passed away as a result of the negligence treatment a claim must be brought within 3 years of the date of death, if the death was caused by the negligent treatment.Where a claim is brought on behalf of a child the 3 year limitation starts to run from the child’s 18th birthday.If the Claimant is a patient who is assessed as not being capable of handling their own claim the time limit (limitation period) does not begin until the legal incapacity is removed.

Q. How badly wrong do things have to go to bring a claim?

A. Usually, a claim can be made if there has been an injury, caused additional pain and suffering or resulted in a further procedure. But get in touch regardless as a member of our team will be able to advise you free of charge whether you are likely to have a claim or not.

Q. Can you help me if more than one hospital was involved?

A. It is often the case that patients are seen by more than one expert or more than one hospital. Claims can be brought against more than one defendant.

Q. Can you still help if the treatment was private?

A. We can assist with claims for both private and NHS patients.

Q. If I live out of Sheffield can you still help me?

A. We pride ourselves on the fact we have four established offices in three towns/cities, which we are able to travel to meet with you. We also have the use of video-link, email and the telephone if this is your preferred method of communication. Distance is not a barrier.
